Idle Idealism part2

continued from previous post......

Sometimes i wonder, what is the source of your integrity ;)
Secondly, there is a vast chasm between reality and idealism.
Thirdly, If I stand as an independent, what change does it make, except for pacifying my ego, as Ms Sarabhai did campaigning against LK Advani.
Fourthly, the way India is proceeding ahead, the whole society is morally and purposefully getting corrupt, shall they elect someone who talks on the lines of social reforms? has the white turned grey, or it's only patches of white that remain?

I agree..idealism is a wasted pastime. But again ..its a personal choice. You can take elements from idealism and tune them up for reality. You are correct about the independent candidate thing. She stood..she had the credentials..but the public had the inertia..they were used to voting for Advani.

Contrary to the general opinion..i do not believe the indian public is that intelligent. They do understand that BJP spreads communalism and that if the incumbent state govt has done work we should vote for them. But they are not that intelligent to really gauge a candidate.

But there has been a change..and we all have felt it.There has been an upgradation of the old rather than the new coming in. Sons n daughters of politicians still get elected..that too in large numbers..but their quality has improved. Now anyone would vote for a sachin pilot or a milind deora even if they were independents. But for that they had to come up and show their work..and that happened solely due to their lineage.

So that's what it is, a compromise is needed for you to get to a platform..but once you get to that place...you have such vast opportunities to do what you have envisioned. Its like an exam..you want to use the qualification to do something you like..but for that you will have to study and give an exam which you detest.

And I strongly disagree that the entire society has been corrupted. How can i when everyday for every 4 examples of wrongdoings..you get atleast one person who is honest. As i said earlier..expecting a 100 percentage clean society is a Utopian wish..its never going to happen.
But change can..and it will have to be done in microcosmic way. Take a small thing and try to make it better...rather than trying to change the whole society, city, state or nation in one go.

People will elect good people...because they know that the current treatment being meted out to them is so less than what they deserve. They have also compromised on their leaders..chosen the best among the worst. Their pent up anger remains that only..just pent up. They want simple things...you give them their basic necessities..n they will be happy..Its only after their basic needs are addressed..they will venture on to more intellectual topics.
It was never white..never will be..we just have to increase its percentage.

Ok..you will write my election speeches ;)

p.s. God save his election campaign then:)
